The medical and post operative care and support generally at this hospital is second to none, right from the doctors and nurses to the
catering staff, porters, receptionists, everyone. Give them a pat on the back, I say (!!) BUT having had treatment in a different
private hospital In the past, I was quite shocked at how poor the standard of the rooms were. At Mt Alvernia. The TV is tiny with only
the basic channels. You get a bathroom with a bath and no walk in shower - what?!?! This is to recover from knee replacement. It’s all
in need of a serious upgrade. All old and dated. It is like a room in an NHS hospital. Really. And when you’re paying for private
medical care or even if
You’re self funding, it’s below par. Granted they are refurbishing at the
moment - the drilling and
hammering which sounded as
if it were right above my room sometimes, went on all day until about 4pm. This was slightly unbearable, but
you just had to live with it. The nurses are so nice and check on you often so it’s difficult to mind too much. Hopefully this
hospital can bring it’s comfort up to the class of its medical and non medical staff. I’m sure I’ve had better food during my last
private hospital stay (which wasn’t here). Here everyday it’s the same high carb menu: pasta, sandwiches or jacket potatoes. There
are no fresh vegetables and no lean proteins with salad. Such as chicken or salmon with salad. So simple and so nutritious that would
have been! I’m not sure I’d come back unless there’s a vast improvement in catering and I’m can be sure the room you will spend
three days recuperating is a Of a much higher standard.
